Additionally, the Charlotte Clerk Official Records portal hosts many legal documents (such as judgments, marriage licenses, and estate documents) resulting from court actions. One can search by individual or business name, select the document types to search for, or filter by date range.

Physical copies and digitized case documents are also processed by the clerk of court at the main courthouse at 350 East Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Criminal Records Access in Charlotte County
Individuals may access criminal records in Charlotte County in various ways. Records of specific criminal prosecutions within any county-level court are managed by the clerk of courts. These include arrest affidavits, charge statements, court dockets, sentencing information, and judgment orders for felonies and misdemeanors. Inquirers may use the Court Type feature on the Charlotte County Court Search website to filter for criminal cases. Anyone may review or duplicate physical copies at the clerk’s office.
The courts, however, do not dispense comprehensive criminal records or background history information. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) disseminates this type of information. The agency’s Computerized Criminal History Information (CCHI) portal allows one to check a subject’s statewide criminal history and print or email a plain, uncertified copy. Searchers must pay $24 plus a $1 processing fee for each name search, even if the search yields no results.
The CCHI portal also allows people to request certified copies of criminal background information. However, certified documents are not sent to the subject directly but to the requesting government agency.
Charlotte County Probate Records
The majority of Charlotte County probate records pertain to cases addressing estate administration, will validation, trust management, or the appointment of guardians or conservators for minors or incapacitated individuals.
Members of the public may view wills and other probate filings through the Charlotte County Circuit Court (the local probate court); however, only the estate executor, the decedent’s heirs, the estate attorney, or creditors with a valid claim may view certain probate information, such as:

Fla. Stat. § 28.2221(5) prohibits the clerk of court from making probate documents available online, but one can still use the Charlotte County Court Search portal to inspect probate case dockets. For full access, individuals should visit the probate division at the Justice Center or submit a mail or email request to the court clerk’s records unit.
Charlotte County Family Court Records
In Charlotte County, family court records encompass documents related to divorce, child custody, paternity, adoption, and support cases. These records are subject to significant access restrictions, unlike typical civil records, which are generally public. However, online access to family case dockets may still be available.
